Koroshia
came to us as a stray wandering our Indianapolis, Indiana
neighborhood. He had visited with a couple of other neighbors for a
night or two, but kept moving on. We took him in, and had a vet
check him for an identification chip and general health. There was
no chip, and he was in good health. His pads were rough and his
nails worn down, as if he'd been on the road for some time.
His picture was posted at area veterinary
offices, and the pet rescue pages on the internet were searched.
There was a listing for a Siberian Husky that matched this stray
perfectly, but it was all the way in Minnesota! It was an unlikely
match, but just in case, an email was sent and phone calls exchanged
with little encouragement.
His digital picture was posted on these pages,
and a link sent to the Minnesota family so they could see how closely
this stray matched their missing companion. Promptly, we received
email and an excited phone call from Minnesota. This stray was
theirs. The photos were a perfect match!
The Bensons drove twelve hours to Indianapolis
to see the stray for themselves. It was a happy reunion!
Koroshia had been with Mr. Benson since
being stationed in Japan in the Armed Forces. He and his family had
recently moved
to Minnesota. Koroshia and his sister had wandered away from
their new home when a gate had been left ajar. The sister
returned home.
He hadn't been seen for almost 3 months, and was
presumed lost forever. Since his
disappearance, the Bensons had acquired another Siberian
Husky. Upon his return home, Koroshia would have not one,
but two playmates
to keep him busy, and hopefully at home. At last report, Koroshia
was enjoying the comforts of his own home. |
